Over 50s to benefit in funding shake-up

Apprenticeships for the over-50s will be available as part of the post-16 planning and funding shake-up, the government announced this week.

They will come under the remit of the new learning and skills council, offering a menu of options including the chance to train as personal advisers for the employment service, as well as child carers and minders. The New Deal 50plus offers training grants.
