'Outed' candidate fails

Congratulations to Roland Jackson, who has been appointed chief executive of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and commiserations to Jill Nelson, who has not. Dr Jackson, acting head of the Science Museum, takes over in September. Ms Nelson, director of science communication at the BA, was "outed" as a candidate after a personal message to her was sent to an online mailing list.
