A ring worth £35,000 given to a friend by Oscar Wilde has been stolen from Magdalen College, Oxford. The 18-carat gold friendship ring was stolen on May 2, but details of the theft have just been released.
The ring has a Greek inscription and initials on the inside. It was a present to William Ward from the playwright, a former member of the college, and Reginald Harding. A £3,500 reward is being offered for information leading to its return.
