Online portals aid access to education

Do-it-yourself online admission and fees payment to the academic course of your choice is fast becoming a reality with the rapid development of portals in post-16 education, senior managers heard at the first European conference on portals for post-16 education in Nottingham this week.

Opening the conference, Portals 2000: An Institutional Imperative, Sir Colin Campbell, vice-chancellor of the University of Nottingham, said that portals were a strategic necessity, especially with the globalisation of higher education.
