All best wishes to dismissed student loan chief Ronald Harrison in his new career in the Scottish catering industry. The good news is that early indications that his new employers are not following custom and practice made familiar by the Loans Company. Otherwise the streets of Largs would long since have been thronged with starving people complaining that they still have not been served several weeks after placing their order, while others deluged the BT operator with inquiries along the lines of "I've been ringing this number for days and nobody answers. Do you think there might be a fault on the line?"
