Fundamental biological subjects such as bio-technology and bio-chemistry at Norway's universities, university colleges and research institutes are to be evaluated for the first time since 1988.
Three international evaluation panels and a committee will carry out the first of the Norwegian Research Council's inter-disciplinary evaluations.
These will aim to improve research policy advice to the government, parliament and ministries and will also seek to increase the efficiency of Norwegian biological research.
