Nordrhein-Westphalia transport systems information day

The representation of the German region of Nordrhein-Westphalia to the European Union has organised an information day, to take place on 15 January, on new high technology transport systems developed in the region.

The Nordrhein-Westphalia state government recently adopted an action plan 'Innovation and excellence in research', which seeks to encourage and support the region's research institutions and small and medium enterprises in the European Research Area (ERA). The event aims to highlight the region's priorities in research and technology as well as to foster contacts with other European partners.


The event will begin at midday and topics include: innovation and high technology in the Nordrhein-Westphalia region, new surface transport in Europe- challenges and technologies, mechatronics as a key technology for railway transportation and innovative freight transport through pipelines. All presentations will be conducted in English.


Speakers for the day include representatives from the Ministry for Science and Research of the State of Nordrhein-Westphalia, the European Commission's Research DG and academics from Loughborough University in the UK, the University of Paderborn and the Ruhr-University in Bochum.
