Part of the elite training of Oxford undergraduates involves learning to ignore the eccentricities of their tutors. Hence Mary Archer's ability - cited this week as an example of her extreme rationality under pressure - to continue giving an Oxford tutorial despite her waters breaking as she went into labour with her first child.
