National survey probes staff shortages

A national probe has been launched into staff shortages in further education. The survey by the Further Education National Training Organisation follows a report published this week that reveals college principals' concerns over staff recruitment and retention problems. Low pay compared with other education sectors and industry is partly to blame, it says. Colleges are finding it particularly hard to recruit staff with IT skills, or with the qualifications and experience to fill management posts.
