Nanotechnology Customer Partnership Meeting at the US PTO, April 20, 2004

This Nanotechnology Customer Partnership initiative is designed and developed to be a forum to share ideas, experiences, and insights between individual users and the USPTO. The USPTO does not intend to use these customer partnership groups to arrive at a group consensus. Individual opinions are sought from varying participants, and the meetings are intended to be informal in nature. These customer partnership groups are formed with full recognition of the USPTO's responsibility under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), and are not established as FACA compliant committees.

We value our customers and the feedback provided from individual participants is important in our efforts to continuously improve the quality of our products and services. Your willing participation in this informal process is helpful in providing us with new insights and perspectives.

We are also seeking suggestions for topics of discussion for this meeting. Any suggestions for topics of discussion should be directed to Jill Warden at (571) 2-1267 or e-mail Jill.Warden@uspto.gov by March 15, 2004. At that time, an agenda for this meeting will be finalized and posted on this site.

This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2004 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Conference Center, Rooms 1D70 and 1D80, Jefferson Building, located at 500 Dulany Street, Alexandria, Virginia. Due to space limitations, please RSVP to Jill Warden at (571) 2-1267 or e-mail Jill.Warden@uspto.gov to confirm your attendance. If it becomes necessary to restrict the number of attendees, we will do so on a first come-first served basis.

Security Announcement

This Nanotechnology Customer Partnership meeting is to be held at the new Carlyle facility located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. In the past, you may have become accustomed to open access to the meeting facility site. However, there are increased security provisions at the new campus.

When you enter the building, you will find a security screening station similar to what you will find at airports. Visitors will need to pass through a metal detector and their bags will be run though an x-ray scanner.

For the Nanotechnology Customer Partnership meeting, we anticipate having "Special Event" Visitor passes for those that pre-register. These badges will permit you to EXIT the building. For entry/reentry, each visitor will need to be processed through the metal detector and, if applicable, have their carry items run through an x-ray machine.

A registration table will be set up outside of the security station and when proceeding to the Partnership meeting, the attendee should show the badge to the Security personnel at the lobby desk and indicate that they are attending the Nanotechnology Customer Partnership meeting. Security staff will check your name against a master list associated with your badge number and then you may proceed through security screening.

If you do not pre-register, you will need to provide a photo ID to the security staff and you will receive a regular temporary visitors pass. You will also be required to leave your photo ID until you return the visitor's pass.

At the end of the meeting, the Special event passes must be returned. If you receive a regular visitor pass, you will exchange that for your photo ID at the end of the conference.

The new security arrangements are very efficient and we do not anticipate any great delays, but is recommended that you arrive early to ensure that all attendees may obtain their badges and pass through security prior to the beginning of the meeting.
