MPs have criticised research councils over the reliability of their costings for large science facilities. "It is alarming that the running costs of two of the six most advanced projects are likely to top initial estimates by a whopping 80 per cent," said Edward Leigh, chairman of the Committee of Public Accounts, following a report on the facilities this week.
