The academic committee of the British Medical Association has agreed with the Department of Health that recruitment to academic clinical fellow posts for 2008 will take place outside of the new online application process for clinical training jobs.
In evidence to the Commons Health Select Committee last week, the BMA said that the inclusion last year of the academic posts in the new MTAS (medical training application system) scheme meant that only 57 per cent of academic training posts were filled.
