Make out to make marks

More than a quarter (28 per cent) of students in Germany say they would have sex with a professor or lecturer if they thought it would improve their grades, according to a Playboy magazine survey of students' sex lives.

But only 8 per cent claimed to have had a relationship with one of their teachers, the poll of 2,159 students at Germany's 15 largest universities found.

Among female students, medics are the most likely to have one-night stands with lecturers (14 per cent). But 10 per cent of female law, German literature, computer science and maths students also claimed to have had such affairs.

One female law student from Bremen, aged 24, told the magazine that junior lecturers were more likely to be propositioned than professors. "They are always being given female students' telephone numbers, especially when they are responsible for marking their exam papers."

One-night stands with lecturers are most common at Frankfurt University, where a quarter of all female students said they had slept with a lecturer, followed by the universities of Aachen (21 per cent) and Mainz (20 per cent).

The survey ranks universities and subjects according to how satisfied students are with their sex lives (Aachen University is the winner), where students have the most one-night stands (Frankfurt am Main) and where to find the most attractive students (Mainz University).

The survey is the latest in a growing number of higher education league tables in Germany, of varying repute and seriousness.
