A pioneering study is to examine whether young adults at risk of developing Type-2 diabetes can be persuaded to live less sedentary lives. Researchers from Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences are collaborating with University Hospitals of Leicester to run a study in which a group of overweight 18- to 30-year-olds will undergo education programmes and workshops aimed at limiting the amount of time they spend sitting down. The group's subsequent levels of activity will be compared with a control group.
