The House of Lords' European Union committee has urged the Government to draw up a clear national strategy to make the most of EU education programmes.
The EU programme for 2006 to 2013, with a E13.6 billion (£9.2 billion) budget, includes the expansion of the Erasmus exchange programme. The committee said better monitoring of the programme outcomes was essential. It also called for a reappraisal of language teaching policy to boost UK participation.
