The board of trustees at Liverpool John Moores University - which included Everton Football Club life president Sir Philip Carter and Phil Redmond, creator of Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks - has been abolished. The dissolution of the LJMU Trust, which managed charitable donations to the university, sparked criticism from some trustees, but the university said the move was a response to "significant changes in the external funding environment, which required the university to change how it manages philanthropic donations to the institution for maximum benefit".
