Three Gabonese student leaders have been jailed for ten months for assault and "breach of trust" after their arrest during demonstrations demanding payment of bursaries and improved conditions. A disciplinary panel at the University Omar Bongo Odimba had earlier suspended the three students for six months for acts that "compromised the good functioning of the university".
