Library clears shelves

An experiment to discover whether print journals can be permanently replaced by online versions is beginning at York University in a bid to resolve a library space crisis. York library staff have removed the print versions of various journals for the next year to gauge academics' reactions. "If we can remove at least some print journals, we will save money even though the online subscriptions can cost ten times as much," said Elizabeth Heaps, York's chief librarian.
