The following inaugural lectures will be held at 5.30 in Lecture Theatre 1 of the New Building: May 5. Ann Colley, professor of psychology: 'Shared knowledge and the social world'.

May 12. Nilesh Samani, professor of cardiovascular medicine: 'Will we need cardiologists in the year 2020?' May 26. Anthony Maxwell, professor of biochemistry: 'Bugs and drugs and supercoils'.

June 2. Alan Wells, profesor of space technology: 'Contributions of technology to space science - or non-stick frying pans are not the only benefits from space.' June 9. Joanne Shattock, professor of Victorian literature: 'Reading Victorian Women'.

June 16. R. Trembath, professor of medical genetics. To be announced.
