Exclusion unit considers transport hurdles
The Social Exclusion Unit this week launched its consultation on transport and social exclusion. It will identify the extent to which disadvantaged people experience difficulty in gaining physical access to education, and possible solutions. The findings will be published next year.

Bid to prevent copyright tribunal
Universities UK and the Copyright Licensing Authority are still negotiating in a bid to settle their differences over licensing costs before a copyright tribunal on September 10. The UUK claims the CLA is overcharging universities for photocopying royalties.

Birmingham starts golf degree
Birmingham University is offering an honours degree in golf that could nurture the next generation of fairway superstars. The university has teamed up with the Professional Golfers’ Association to offer 25 places on the three-year BA in applied golf management studies.
