Homeless missing out on study
As many as 100,000 young homeless people are being denied education because they cannot study and claim benefit at the same time, according to the Foyer Foundation, which wants the benefit rules changed.

Sage shortlisted for Whitbread
Lorna Sage, the professor of literature at the University of East Anglia who died earlier this month, is on the shortlist for tonight's Whitbread Book of the Year. She has already won the Whitbread biography award this year for Bad Blood - A Memoir .

Oxford protesters risk exam ban
Six Oxford University students who object to tuition fees and have refused to pay them have been banned from lectures. They are still in college accommodation and must pay by the middle of February or risk being blocked from sitting exams.
