'Spy' professor deported
One of four Chinese-American academics held by the Chinese government has been convicted of spying for Taiwan and ordered to be deported. Li Shaomin, a United States citizen, is an associate professor of marketing at the City University of Hong Kong.

End of road for Beaver
Beaver College in suburban Philadelphia today assumes its new identity as Arcadia University. Graduates who want them will be issued with new diplomas.

Zimbabwe aid blockade
Teaching and research at the University of Zimbabwe have been badly hit after Sweden’s aid agencies, concerned at the deteriorating political and economic situation, withdrew their funding. All 10 faculties are affected by a shortage of journals due to the withdrawal of sponsorship by Sida/Sarec.
