Melbourne recruitment failure attracts scrutiny
Australian authorities are investigating the failure by Melbourne Private University to recruit adequate numbers of students. The three-year-old institution, which is eventually expected to recruit 10,000 students, has only 100 enrolled on formal award courses and another 1,000 expected to take short professional courses this year.

Burkina Faso battles meningitis outbreak
In a vaccination drive to end a meningitis epidemic that has claimed 300 lives in rural Burkina Faso, international agencies have enlisted the help of medical students and lecturers from Ouagadougou University's medical college.
