Large-Scale Facility Programme for Arctic Environmental Research

Deadline: 10/02/2001

January 29, 2001

Under the Access to Research Infrastructures Activity of Human Potential Programme of the European Community, access is provided for European researchers to the Ny-Ålesund International Arctic Environmental Research and Monitoring Facility in Svalbard, Norway.

The Ny-Ålesund LSF programme is organised as a consortium between Norwegian Polar Institute, Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Norwegian Mapping Authority, Norwegian Institute for Air Research, Natural Environmental Research Council, and Kings Bay AS. Interested scientists are invited to conduct environmental Arctic research at the Ny-Ålesund LSF research installations and to submit project proposals to the facility.

The grants for the selected programmes are restricted to cover travel and subsistence costs only for field campaigns or laboratory work of up to two months duration, or shorter visits involving the installation of well automated instruments for 3-12 months operation on the ground or at the station observation platforms. Only research teams conducting their research in the Member States of the Community or Associated States are eligible to benefit under the contract. Full details and forms available online.
