With an initial capital of M$150,000 (Pounds 23,800) the new Malaysian-Siamese Association has set up a foundation to increase the number of Thai-Malaysians in tertiary education and help improve their living standards. Funds will come from both finance ministry and community sources. The foundation has Thai-Malaysian community leaders and Buddhist monks on the board. There are about 60,000 Thai-Malaysians in Malaysia.
