When Glasgow University's Plant Science Research Centre was razed in a fire five years ago, PhD student George Littlejohn was inconsolable. He believed his nearly finished PhD had literally gone up in smoke. Fortunately, it was rescued intact. The building has now been renovated and Littlejohn has recovered from his fright. He told Peep: "We have been galvanised by our experience and now back up our data and biological materials as we go."
