Good timing being one of the basic attributes of the top-quality cricketer, one can only admire the coincidence of reports that the battle for an Australian-style Cricket Academy has been won with the final of the World Cup, in which the educated Australians were made to look decidedly ordinary by the brilliant Sri Lankans. Surely an opportunity there for an enterprising member of the Bannister committee to fix themselves an urgent fact-finding mission to Colombo and Kandy ?
