Joint company set up to operate synchrotron

The government and the Wellcome Trust have set up a joint venture company, Diamond Light Source, to build and operate the diamond synchrotron.

The £235 million project will be based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire and will be the largest scientific facility to be built in the United Kingdom for more than 30 years.
