Brussels, 20 March 2002

Karlsruhe (DE): ITU signed a framework agreement with the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the National Nuclear Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The subject of the agreement, which will remain in force for three years, is to develop methodologies for the characterisation of environmental radioactive microparticles.

This involves the development of techniques for categorisation of radioactive materials, creation of a database on the Kazakhstan nuclear materials, investigation of the physical-chemical properties of "hot" particles and their characterisation in the environment.
