Irish set up joint body

The nine universities on the island of Ireland have set up an umbrella body, Universities Ireland, to promote collaboration between institutions in the north and south. One of its first research projects is to investigate the feasibility of joint degrees and credit transfer between institutions. It also plans to "brand" Irish universities abroad and improve links with industry with the help of the north-south trade and development body, InterTradeIreland.
