International conference to examine future of steel research

Brussels, 21 June 2002

A conference on the future of EU steel research following expiry of the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty on 26 July 2002.

Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin and Carlos Westendorp y Cabeza, who chairs the European Parliament's committee on industry, external trade, research and energy, will speak at the opening of the event.

The event will include presentations on technical steel research under the ECSC and a round table debate on the future of steel research.
