The Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) will host an international workshop on 'interfaces between science and society: collecting experiences for good practice' in Milan, Italy, on and 28 November.
The task of the workshop will be to explore the implications of the public scrutiny of science. The variety of interfaces between science and society will be explored through the work of leading researchers around the world, so that guidance on best practice in each area can be achieved.
Topics for discussion will include the following:
- communicating among plural perspectives;
- managing uncertainty;
- complexity and value commitments;
- knowledge assessment;
- transparency;
- community based research.
