Innovation project leads to pan-European database of metal cleaning processes

July 27, 2004

Brussels, 26 Jul 2004

A database of metal cleaning processes is now up and running following the conclusion of the CLEANTOOL project, funded under the innovation section of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5).

The database has been created by five European institutes from Germany, Greece, Estonia, Iceland and Spain, and already contains almost 250 processes.

The database contains not only best practice for processes such as immersion, spraying and degreasing, as used by automobile suppliers, but also new methods, such as biological cleaning, laser cleaning, brushing installations, CO2 dry ice pellets and plasma cleaning.

All entries in the database include information on how they are usually used, along with an evaluation of the applying company.
