Subject: Adoption of a Council Decision concerning the signature of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the European Community and the Arab Republic of Egypt

1. On 9 July 2004, the Commission submitted to the Council its proposal for a Council Decision on the signing of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the European Community and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

2. The Agreement has been negotiated on the basis of negotiating directives adopted by the Council on 14 April 2003 and it was initialled on 4 March 20041.

3. The Research Working Party reached agreement on the text at its meeting of linguists, is set out in document 16373/04 RECH 267 EG 13.
