The Iris women's photography project at Staffordshire University has won top prize in the internet section at Transmediale 99, the international media arts festival in Berlin. "The Future Looms" is the work of artist Alicia Felberbaum, photographer Roshini Kempadoo, writer Fiona Russell and designers from the agency Peel Design, with a Pounds 70,000 grant from the National Lottery. With old and new photographs the work explores the similarities between the old industries of the textile mills of Batley in Yorkshire and computer systems of the future.
