The Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) has sent e-mails to scholars and scientists originally from Hungary who are currently working in western Europe, the US and Canada. The aim behind the exercise is to involve the ex-pats more in Hungarian academic life, and to raise awareness of the fact that the academy is open to them.

Some prominent scientists of Hungarian extraction currently working abroad have become external members of the academy over the years, but the HAS believes that far more Hungarians can be reached.

A database of those contacted by e-mail will be published soon.
