At the recent Association of Scottish Colleges' annual conference, entrepreneur Chris Gorman, who has sold two multimillion-pound businesses, urged the colleges to slash costs by buying online.
One medium-sized company that turned to online procurement had halved its annual £80,000 bill for toilet rolls, he said.
