One former student unlikely to have been deterred by any possible Oxford top-up fee is alumnus to be proud of no 90, the distinctly nobbish insurance fraudster Darius Guppy. Mr Guppy's high moral standards and grasp of logic - apparently believing that one way to take revenge for his father's treatment as a Lloyd's name was to hit other names for Pounds 1.8 million - may or may not have been acquired while an undergraduate at Magdalen College, Oxford.
