Members of the University and College Union at Glyndwr University are being balloted on strike action in support of their branch chair, Hamish Murphy, who the union claimed was dismissed from his post as a lecturer in youth and communities studies for carrying out trade union activities. The members allege that Mr Murphy exposed bullying and harassment at the university, but the institution has strongly denied that the dismissal was linked to union work and added that the decision was still under appeal. The ballot will close on 6 November, and UCU members have been asked to vote on strike action and action short of a strike.
