Surprise! Academics at Salford University were in the midst of a student discussion group when who should burst in but comedian Les Dennis announcing they were all on TV. Student Mark Small had been set up by a friend to appear on the show Give Your Mate a Break with his stand-up comedy routine. As if poor pay and the research assessment exercise were not enough.
