Ninety-four per cent of students consider going to university "a worthwhile investment", according to the 2007 Student Experience Report from Unite.

Students' top three motivations for going to university were to gain qualifications, improve their chances of getting a job and improve earning potential.

The report found that students are motivated more by a university's academic reputation than its reputation for social life when choosing where to study.
