FP6 workshops on IST priorities, UK

January 17, 2003

Brussels, 16 Jan 2003

The UK department of trade and industry (DTI) is planning three information society technologies (IST) workshop events for late February, to be held in or around London.

Each event will concentrate on one of the following IST strategic objectives of the first calls for proposals of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6):
1. towards a global dependability and security framework;
2. networked audiovisual systems and home platforms;
3. technology-enhanced learning and access to cultural heritage.

The events are by invitation only, and will bring together experts in each field who possess knowledge of the European Commission's strategy and the structure of FP6. Participants will consider ways in which UK industrial interest might be better focussed, and UK participation increased.

Those interested in participating at the events should send an e-mail to the contacts listed below, including an outline of their organisation, projects plans, and any thoughts on how UK involvement in FP6 can be stimulated.

Those selected to participate will be contacted nearer the time with further details.
