More influence for football supporters over the control of their clubs is the subject of a conference to be held at Birkbeck College on January .
The conference follows news that the Football Task Force has advocated shareholdings to be held in trust on behalf of fans, a move endorsed by government.
The law firm Cobbetts, a sponsor of the event, is working with Birkbeck on legal structures for clubs regarding the share options. Speakers will include culture secretary Chris Smith, Trevor Brooking CBE (below), and Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers Association.
