Floating fantasy

This ethereal figure is part of a summer exhibition celebrating the talent of students at the Royal College of Art.

The sculpture, called Dreamcatcher, is the work of MPhil student Marilene Oliver, who used laser-cut acrylic, fishing wire and ostrich feathers.

It is a life-size, levitating figure made up of dreamcatchers - a traditional Native American charm said to protect children from nightmares.

Ms Oliver came up with the idea while on a tropical island in Brazil, where she saw dreamcatchers shaped like fish.

The exhibition of sculpture, which kicks off the RCA's annual summer show, will be held until 7 June in the recently refurbished sculpture building in Battersea. For more information, visit www.rca.ac.uk.
