Flirting by numbers

Edmund White, author and Princeton University professor, revealed at The Times Higher 's event at the Edinburgh International Book Festival that during a conversation with Catherine Millet, author of The Sexual Life of Catherine M , they discovered that they had each "had about 3,000 sexual partners". When asked by a woman in the audience if he would consider becoming bisexual, White replied: "That would be thrilling - why not?" It is unclear whether the questioner was aspiring to be White's number 3,001.
