First annual GA2LEN conference, Ghent

The EU-funded GA2LEN Network of Excellence (global allergy and asthma European network) will hold its first annual conference in Ghent, Belgium, on 19 April.

The event will feature the participation of Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik, and will highlight the EU's policy role in this area, as well as presenting a new report on the link between allergies and cleaning products.

Other questions for discussion will include:
- understanding how infections might protect against allergy;
- how can we block the atopic march?
- is networking the solution for controlling allergy?
