The future of some further education colleges could be put at risk by Government plans for grant-maintained schools, says the Further Education Funding Council. A white paper on self-government for schools proposes withdrawing from colleges the power to regulate establishment of sixth forms in GM schools. The FEFC said this could threaten colleges which recruited heavily from GM schools.
