Education secretary David Blunkett has announced an extra £45 million to help further education and sixth-form students.
There will be an extra £5 million for childcare in further education, bringing the total available in 2001-02 to £30 million. There will £20 million in both 2002-03 and 2003-04 for schemes concentrating on how to help 19 to 25-year-olds with fees, living costs and other costs of learning.
