Explorer show opens

May 7, 2004

The granddaughter of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton opened an exhibition at Cambridge University this week of "hidden" documents and artefacts relating to his Antarctic journeys. The Honourable Alexandra Shackleton opened the exhibition on Wednesday at the university's Scott Polar Research Institute. Many of the documents and artefacts in the exhibition have until recently been held in private collections, including his Antarctic sledging diaries, letters and charts.
