European Business Incubators invited to join the CORDIS database

Brussels, 14 May 2003

CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is welcoming additional organisations to its Business Incubators service and providing a new and easy to use interactive tool for them to submit and update their details and profiles.

Business Incubators offer a supportive environment for newly created firms in which to establish and develop their business. They provide modular buildings and shared facilities, as well as managerial support and backup services, thus improving the chances of successful growth.

The current service provides direct access to over 700 business incubators in Europe and associated countries, listing addresses, contact details, key facts on activities and links to local web services. A searchable interface enables users to rapidly identify the nearest local point of support. In addition, the revamped service offers a selection of timely news and event announcements provided by the incubators through CORDIS Wire, the open platform for news related to innovation.

This service also provides links to the European Commission's benchmarking activities and case studies. It therefore acts as a genuine interactive interface to assist incubators in promoting their role in the innovation process.
